                                                               NEWS RELEASE

Complaint number:                       12-004162

Incident Type:                              Assault & Battery

Date Occurred:                           11-29-2012       Time:        Approximately 7:07 a.m.

Location:                                     2700 Block Texel

Suspect:                                      Believed to be an 18 year old Kalamazoo Township man

Victim:                                       15 year old Kalamazoo Township youth and a 44 year old Kalamazoo woman

Incident Summary:
A Comstock public schools bus driver reported a group of students boarded her bus in the 2700 Block of Texel.  One of
the people in the group had his head and face concealed by the hoodie he was wearing.  Since the bus driver couldn’t see
him well enough to identify him as a student she asked him to put the hood down so she could see his face.  Instead the
suspect, who was later tentatively identified as an 18 year old Kalamazoo Township man, began to assault a 15 year old
Kalamazoo Township male who was on the bus.  The victim is a Comstock High School student.  When the bus driver
approached the suspect and victim, the suspect punched her once in the face and fled the bus.  Township officers have
tentatively identified the suspect.  He has not been located at this time.  Neither victim was seriously injured.  The
investigation continues and once complete will be turned over to the Kalamazoo County Prosecutor’s Office for review.
