Incident Type:                Larcenies from vehicles

Suspect:                         Several Kalamazoo residents
     
Incident Summary:        
In the early morning hours of Tuesday February 14th, Township officers were called to investigate suspicious people
walking in the area of W. Main and Nichols.  Officers were able to back track the suspects from several vehicles at homes
and apartment complexes in the area to an apartment in the 100 block of N. Kendall.   Officers made contact with several
people at the apartment and secured it.  The officers obtained a search warrant for the apartment and located property that
was taken from vehicles in the area.  It is believed that a number of residents have not yet reported these larcenies.  Officers
ask that anyone in this area who believes their vehicle or garage may been entered over the last several nights contact the
Township Police at 269-343-0551.   Additionally, anyone with any information concerning these crimes is also asked to call.

Additional Info:        
The Township Police Department would like to remind residents to be sure their vehicles are locked, even if they are
parked inside a garage.  Thieves frequently will enter only unlocked vehicles to avoid making too much noise.  Residents
should also make sure garage doors are closed and secured.

Incident Type:                Shots fired        

Date Occurred:               2-14-2012                Time:        1107

Location:                        2100 Block of Humphrey Street        

Suspect:                         52 year old Kalamazoo Township resident
     
Incident Summary:        
While investigating an armed robbery at the PNC Bank branch at Gull and Bixby, officers heard one or more shots fired in
the general area.  The area was checked and nothing was located.  At about 12:45 p.m. officers developed additional
information which lead them to contact the male resident at a home in the 2100 block of Humphrey.  The home was
searched with the owner’s consent. A 12 gauge shotgun, ammunition and a small amount of suspected marijuana was
seized.  The suspect admitted to firing the weapon on more than one occasion outside of the home after consuming what he
said was marijuana.  At the conclusion of the investigation the suspect was released.  Once laboratory analysis is complete,
a charging request will be forwarded to the Kalamazoo County Prosecutor’s Office for the firearms violations and for
possession of the suspected marijuana.

Incident Type:               Armed Robbery

Date Occurred:             2-14-2012                Time:        1044

Location:                       1642 Gull Road        

Suspect:        
African American female in her 20’s; 5’6”-9”tall; approximately 120 lbs. described as a thin build.  She was last seen
wearing a short black puffy coat, turquoise pants and a black ski mask.  She was armed with a small black handgun

Vehicle:                
Black 1997 Dodge Neon, Michigan registration 1KFR83        
     
Incident Summary:        
Township Police were contacted by employees of the PNC Bank branch at 1642 Gull Road reporting a robbery.  They
said a female came into the bank, displayed a handgun, demanded and obtained money from two tellers and fled the bank
on foot.  She was last seen getting into the passenger side of a black 1997 Dodge Neon bearing Michigan registration
1KFR83 in the parking lot, which left south on Bixby.  The vehicle’s owner is reporting it as stolen.  The Kalamazoo
Township Police Department is being assisted by the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety and the FBI.
