Incident Summary:
An employee of Mulder’s Outdoor Power Equipment, 3333 Ravine Road, said when he arrived for work at
approximately 4:00 a.m. this morning he saw a person inside the business.  That person fled in a Mulder’s truck
east on Ravine.  The employee contacted his employer and then called 911.  The suspect subsequently crashed
the truck into a utility pole at Ravine and Douglas.  The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety responded to
investigate the crash since it occurred in the City of Kalamazoo.  Township officers handled the burglary
investigation.  The suspect, a 41 year old Kalamazoo man, received leg and head injuries in the crash.  He was
treated and then transported to Bronson Methodist Hospital by LIFE EMS.  The truck was loaded with
computers and a variety of outdoor power equipment.  Burglaries were subsequently discovered at two other
businesses on Ravine Road near Mulder’s, the Kalamazoo Kettlecorn Company at 3415 Ravine and Cakes and
More, 3417 Ravine.

The suspect remains in custody at Bronson where he is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.  The
suspect was also wanted on an outstanding child support warrant from Kalamazoo County.  These cases remain
under investigation.  Township officers anticipate presenting the case for review at the Kalamazoo County
